Review: May Coop Raw Sauce

Maycoop Raw Sauce – SGD$67

Fun fact: Maple Tree Sap particles are almost the exact same size as our bodily fluids (even smaller than water) and enable the formula to easily absorb deep into the skin. The essence intensively hydrates and delivers critical nourishment to skin, creating a healthy-looking glow from within. It also helps prep skin to better absorb subsequent products, such as serums and moisturizers, so that you get the most out of both your morning and evening skin care routines. This product is cruelty-free.

I say…

The Packaging: A tall, frosted-finish glass bottle with a twist-on cap. It comes with an extra cotton drawstring bag, which I guess is a nice gesture, but other as repurposing it as an umbrella cover, I see no other use for it. The hole at the top is larger than normal toners, but since this is a thicker consistency, the product won’t come gushing out.

The Scent: I love it! It smells so fragrant, not too sweet, and swaths your skin in its aroma without being overwhelming. It’s hard to describe it – for scents, it’s always best for you to sniff it for yourself.

The Texture: I’m guessing that this is due to its maple Tree Sap ingredient – it’s not your usual watery liquid toner, but is instead, more viscous so that it slowly flows out instead of gushing out. It’s not sticky nor slimey though. I like the texture – its density gives for a more enjoyable sensation when you use circular motions to massage it into your skin (versus the watery liquids where you pat it in). Despite its thicker consistency, it is quickly absorbed into the skin without leaving any residue.

The Verdict: I’m pretty okay with this product so far – I’ve heard it’s a cult Kbeauty favourite that has been featured on one of their top beauty programes Get It Beauty. I’m loving the sensorial aspect of using this – it smells great (nothing maple, nothing edible, but a wonderful fragrance), as well as the viscous consistency that makes massaging it in a very enjoyable experience. In terms of skincare benefits, the pro is that I have not had any adverse reactions to it (no rashes, redness, nor spots). The skin does feel hydrated and moisturised, and seems to stay that way for the day. I do note that I haven’t seen any visible improvement in my skin tho  (not that the skin has deteriorated) – Overally, I guess this is pretty good for upkeep and maintenance.  Go check it out at Tangs for yourself
