Make an Autumn Leaf Centerpiece

#DIY #Craft #Halloween

Watching the weather guy last night, he told us to maybe be ready for some snow this weekend.  What?  It just started being Autumn, didn’t it?  The leaves aren’t even all of the way off of the trees.  How can we be getting ready for snow already?  Oh well.  The wood bucket is stocked, I have some fire starters ready and the coffee pot is set to brew!  I always love the cooler weather.  It’s so much better to be able to put something extra on vs. being too warm for the outfit you’re wearing.  Plus, living the mountains of Arizona, at around 6500′, we get some gorgeous views during the Autumn/Fall time.  Here’s a photo from near our local ski resort of some of the beautiful colors.

I hope this craft idea will help you get ready for the Fall holidays, and give you an idea of how to decorate your home.  Be sure to use what you have, and don’t worry about needing to buy new things.  Even the dollar (and a quarter) store has a lot of stuff you could use to throw stuff together.  Be sure and share a photo on my FB page, with what you come up with.  I’d love to see it!

I sure hope that you like the tutorial, and pray that you have a blessed day!

Please be sure to comment, and share this craft on your social media channels – thanks so much!!

Instructions for the Autumn Candle Centerpiece:

Looking at the dining room table the other night, I decided I wanted to make a change.  Don’t get me wrong, I love my fake artichokes…since everyone thinks they are real, but I wanted something different to go with the Fall season.  Here’s what it looked like before.

With the leaves changing outside, I figured it would be fun to make our centerpiece match a bit more.  I had an extra candle sitting upstairs and figured that I would give it a facelift.  I started with some fall leaves that I have in my craft barn.  What, you don’t have about 50 things that you know you’re going to use one day?  Whatever! I started by taking the leaves off of the stems, being careful to not damage any of the fabric part.

When I had as many free from the stems that I would be needing, I got something out to put on the table to keep it clean, while I glued.  Using some Mod Podge, I started attaching the leaves around the candle.  I found that the yellow leaves were a bit too tight, so I ditched those for the orange ones that were more loose.  Must have been a different fabric.

You can use as many, or as little as you wish.  Be generous with the paste, to help it stick well to the candle.  You might need to do multiple coats, if you feel it’s not secured enough.  The leaves don’t have to be perfectly flat, just do what looks best for your project.

When the glue is dry, you can trim the leaves at the bottom, if you wish.  I used a small glass bowl, upside down in the basket, to elevate the candle a bit.  Totally up to you!

When that was done, I poured in some little pinecones that I had laying around.

I had bought some fake oranges awhile back, and thought that they might look perfect in the basket as well.  Make it your own and use what you have lying around, or what best matches your kitchen/dining room.

Now it’s time to just enjoy it.  I absolutely love the Autumn/Fall season here in Arizona.  The oaks and aspens with their beautiful changing leaves.  The crisp air and smell from those that are starting to use their wood stoves for warmth.  Nothing better than the hot cider, fuzzy socks and pumpkin season!!

I hope you and your family have a great Autumn season.  Stay safe and stay warm!  What do you think?  I hope you like it!  Please take a minute to leave me a comment on what you would like to create, and maybe if you have any tips on how to do it different, or better!

Be sure to tweet, pin, share, etc. – thanks!!
