Create Some Scarecrow Bottle Decor

#TigerStrypesBlog #Harvest #Autumn

It’s crazy that it’s already time for Autumn.  This year has gone by quickly.  Fall is my favorite time of year.  Living in the White Mountains of Arizona, we get to enjoy the cool weather, beautiful colors and the smell of the changing season.  I never understood what people were talking about, in regards to that smell.  You can just feel the change in the season and know that it’s time to start planning for God to paint the forest and the warm air to start going away.  I love this season.

I decided to make some decorations to celebrate the season, what better for Fall than a scarecrow?  I always love seeing them in local fields and the memories of old movies, etc. that make you smile.  Now I can reuse old bottles and make them into something fun!  With any craft, if I’m able to upcycle something, I love it.  These can be made with any size, any shape, it’s totally up to you.

Let me know what you think about the bottles in the comments.  I sure hope that you like the tutorial, and pray that you have a blessed day!

Please be sure to comment and share this craft on your social media channels – thanks so much!!

Materials/Tools Used:

  • Clear Bottles (cleaned/labels removed)
  • Craft Straw/Raffia
  • Decorative Ribbon, Leaves
  • Thin Foam Sheets
  • Glue Gun
  • Adhesive Vinyl
  • Cricut or Printer
  • & Time!

Instructions for the Scarecrow Bottle Decor:

Most of us have old bottles laying around for either vases, or the craft project that we hope to accomplish one day.  I finally got down to doing one of those, and using some of those empty bottles for something else.  Super easy to make, and can be personalized however you want.  I started out by stuffing some craft straw into the bottle, to fill it up.  You can use however much you want.  I used a craft stick to push it down and spread it out a bit inside.

I then used my Cricut, to make some pieces for the face of the scarecrow.  After weeding the vinyl, and adding the transfer paper, I attached it to the bottle, where I wanted the face to be located.

After that was finished, I used some craft foam to make the hat.  You can just cut out a circular shape, whatever size that you wish.  When it’s cut, fold it in half gently and score an “x” in the center.  Pull it over the neck of the bottle to where you want it.  Add a few glue dots if you need it to stay put.

When you have that part on, use some craft ribbon/yard to make the top of the scarecrow hat.  Use some glue to start it, and then wrap it around the neck of the bottle however you wish to finish up the hat.

Next, I glued on some craft leaves that I found at the dollar store, to make it a bit more seasonal looking.  You could add berries, acorns, or whatever you want to make it a bit more festive.

Now you can display the scarecrow wherever you wish, or even give to friends for a holiday gift.

So, what do you think?  I hope you like it!

Please take a minute to leave me a comment on what you would like to create, and maybe if you have any tips on how to do it different, or better!

Be sure to tweet, pin, share, etc. – thanks!!
