Nice - O'Morena Varied Brunch in Old Nice

We recently joined some friends for Brunch in Vieux Nice at O'Morena on a cute little side street of the old town. I love the winding road with the lovely colourful buildings.

At night O'Morena is a tapas bar but on the weekend it is open for brunch both Saturday and Sunday. I keep meaning to go one evening for some snacks but keep forgetting. Luckily I have organised friends to make sure I do try brunch occasionally!

What is really handy about O'Morena is the variety of choice and the ability to do a kind of brunch menu vs going a la carte. I, being the picky person that I am, chose to go a la carte but most of the gang picked one of the pre-defined brunch options.

You can see the menu here: http://www.omorena.com/les-brunchs but the general idea is you pay 25 EUR and get a full breakfast, hot and cold drinks, a choice of brunch platters and a dessert. Not bad!

Here are some of my a la carte picks, but more further down the post:

If you get the full brunch you get jams and nutella to be able to make "tartines"  :)

With this bread and toast plus some viennoiseries.

You get a hot drink, so of course I went for an espresso. 1.70EUR on its own but I selected the 7EUR option of having a hot drink, a juice and the basket of breads and viennoiseries.

And our neighbouring table had a gorgeous doggy :)

The brunch includes a juice, most chose freshly squeezed lemon and orange juice blend.

This is the Brunch OMorena which my hubby chose and is a mixture of various meats and cheeses with some jams to complement them. Plus you get an egg with bacon.

N went for the English brunch with baked beans, bacon, sausages, scrambled eggs and rosti / hash browns. The little mixed side salad was nice with the bursts of sweet cherry tomatoes.

R went for the New York brunch with a Chicken Bacon bagel, eggs, coleslaw, pancakes and maple syrup.

And then as part of the brunch menu you also get a selection of 3 mini cakes, here two muffins and a pastei de nata.

So what did I pick a la carte? You saw my coffee and freshly squeezed juice that was 7EUR with the bread, toast and viennoiseries, but I also picked a few items off the menu as well. First of all I went for the pancakes and maple syrup :) 5 EUR

I like when they go a little caramelised like this. I only know how to make crepes, not pancakes so it was a nice treat.

Being half Irish I have to honour my passport and pick whichever spud option is on the menu so I picked the hash browns / rosti for 3 EUR. I also fancied something a little more substantial so I asked if I could have the BLTC (Bacon Lettuce Tomato Chicken) bagel without the B, so just chicken, tomato and lettuce and they agreed (they forgot and delivered it with bacon but no questions asked they replaced it for me). 7 EUR and quite tasty, with a nice side (well, middle) salad - the tomatoes were good quality.

Quick inside shot.

Overall we had a lovely brunch and the ability to pick and choose options was really helpful to me as there was no full brunch option where I would have eaten everything. We all left satisfied and full.

The menu, though as usual these things are subject to change so best to check out their website - http://www.omorena.com/les-brunchs
