What Is Affiliate Marketing – Can It Give Enough Money To You ?

Does affiliate marketing bring in money?” is a question some of my fellow bloggers sometimes asked me.



You see, the internet is full of Affiliate marketing programs and many companies are into it. But does it bring in more than enough money to an affiliate?
Well, I’ve tried Affiliate Marketing thrice, and the results are mixed. So, my answer is it depends on what affiliate program you are trying to promote and sell through your blog.
What is affiliate marketing?
It is a marketing practice in which a business rewards you for each visitor or customer you brought about by your own marketing efforts.
For example, you have a blog, and you advertise in your blog a product or a service of a company. You will get commission every time a customer purchases the product or service through your blog.
Another example are the reward sites, where users are rewarded with cash or gifts, for the completion of an offer, and the referral of others to the site.
Is affiliate marketing a form of online marketing?
The answer is yes, because when you do affiliate marketing you use your website or blog to drive traffic to another site – the company site in which you are the affiliate.
To generate sales and sales referrals you have to use your own blog to advertise the product of the company. Your income as an affiliate is dependent on how much sales you can generate using your own blog.
I’ve found out that the best way to make money in affiliate marketing is finding your own niche market with products and services you can trust and believe in, which also jibe with your blog’s niche.

How to become an affiliate?
You register with a company of your choice doing an affiliate marketing program. On the internet there are thousands of companies with affiliate programs. You can do affiliate marketing of webhosting companies like Host Gator or Just Host. You can purchase products of Click Bank and market it thru your blog.
Once you become an affiliate, you put the banner or ad of the company on your blog. Advertise your blog to generate more readers. Publish content frequently, so that your visitors which are also the target buyers of your affiliate products will come back often to read your posts.
Content is king even in affiliate marketing
That is why even in affiliate marketing, content still matters. This is because your blog’s content has proven time and again to be the best sales tool available to affiliate marketers.  Nothing, not even strategically placed ad copy works as well as providing quality content that pre-sells any product or service that you’re promoting on your blog.
Your blog, personality and brand
Many affiliate programs provide their affiliates with ready marketing materials, which all you must do is to put it on your blog, like banner ads or text-link ads. They have also e-mail letters and articles which you can use to send to your target customers.
However, as an affiliate you are your own company and your blog needs to reflect your personality and brand.
Building loyal readers around your blog and providing valuable and useful content is a best way to build your image, and create a following that trusts you and your credibility – which will result in click throughs and affiliate sales.

In the final analysis, doing affiliate marketing is to help your readers and other people live better lives, without having to provide the products or services personally, and make money as a result.
