I warn people all the time that there are lawyers out there advertising themselves as “motorcycle attorneys”.  These ads are no guarantee.  The Daily Record reports that an attorney who advertises for Motorcycle accidents, was sued by a former client who was injured in a 2006 motorcycle accident.

According to the Daily Record, the client was injured in a 2006 accident.  The client claims the attorney missed a critical deadline to disclose expert witnesses, and then failed to let the client know the significance of this failure.

Proper handling of these cases requires BOTH substantial experience and understanding of Motorcycles and substantial experience and understanding of the legal work required to succeed in these cases.  As Charlie Finley put it, some folks have the hat, others have the cattle.  To succeed, you have to have the hat, and you have to have the cattle.

The lawyer’s website claims years of experience and an understanding of motorcycles.  It states that he raced both cars and motorcycles.

Of course, a lawsuit is not a judgment, and the mere fact of the suit does not mean the claims are true.  On the other hand, it is very important that you find a lawyer who consistently gets it right.  It would be a shame to lose your accident case or get a bad result, just because you didn’t take time to find the right lawyer.

I don’t know the facts of the reported situation, so I am not going to name the attorney, but I do know that many, many attorneys advertising for motorcycle cases would not be my choice for representation.

Motorcycle accidents often involve significant injuries.  The choice of lawyer needs to be taken seriously.
