PM Opens Power Plant in Sirajganj

Dhaka: Prime Minister of Bangladesh Sheikh Hasina recently laid foundation stone of 150 megawatt peaking power plant at Saidabad in the district. Hasina also inaugurated expansion works of the Saidabad-Enayetpur road and reopened the much-expected Sirajganj National Jute Mills previously known as Qaumi Jute Mills.

Separate munajats were offered seeking peace, progress and prosperity of the country after the formal inauguration of the development works.

Besides, much enthusiasm has been created among the people of the districts centring the visit of the premier and Awami League President Sheikh Hasina, who earlier visited in the district town in 1999 as the pime minister during her previous tenure.

The roads and thoroughfares have tastefully been decorated with colourful placards and festoons inscribing photographs of the premier and Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

Festive mood was prevailing in and around the area centring the PM's visit while hundreds of school going students, among others, greeted the PM standing both sides of the roads.

Sheikh Hasina, the eldest daughter of Bangabandhu, later addressed a public rally organised by district Awami League.

Tens of thousands of people from all walk of life thronged in the district town to join the rally and to have a glimpse of their beloved leader. Communications Minister Syed Abul Hossain, Fisheries Minister Abdul Latif Biswas, advisers to the PM H T Imam and Towfiq-e- Elahi Chowdhury, State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Md Enamul Haque and former home minister Mohammad Nasim were, among others, present on the occasion.News:energybangla.com
