We’ve welcomed a new face to the marketing team here at Office Freedom. Say hello to Chris Day – our new Senior Developer. We caught up with Chris to find out what makes him tick.
What are your interests and hobbies?
I am a sporty geek. I love running around like a crazy person on the football/hockey pitch, almost as much as I enjoy sitting down to play on my collection of 90s retro games consoles. One of my most-played games is Shining Force 3 (on the highly underrated Sega Saturn), but my three all-time favourites are Wipeout 2097, Quake 3 Arena, and Zelda 64.
I haven’t kept up to date with modern gaming, as I now love to spend time with my two young children. My typical weekend will involve a rush to and from hockey, either side of taking the kids out.
My love of video games as a child is what drove me towards becoming a digital designer and developer, I was so keen to dive beneath the surface and find out how software works.
One interesting fact about you
I love giving back to all the communities I am involved in. Locally, I volunteer as an Enterprise Advisor with the Careers & Enterprise Company, as well as participating in Hertfordshire LEPs envoy programme.
I am also a member of Smashing Magazine’s expert panel in the field of UX design and am greatly invested in the open-source community surrounding Umbraco CMS.
Why did you choose Office Freedom?
The most important thing about work is people. We spend a large percentage of our lives at work, and I want to be surrounded with creativity and friendly faces. After only three days in I already feel settled here and can totally see how this business has grown over the past 25 years.
What are you most looking forward to about working at Office Freedom?
There is a huge amount of potential in the Office Freedom web platform. I can’t wait to begin developing new features that help even more business owners find their perfect space.
I see it as a great catalyst for innovation, by saving people time and helping their businesses grow . Our working environments have a huge influence on what we deliver, and ultimately, contribute to our success.
