WeWork to open new Old Street workspace this September

Flexible workspace colossus, WeWork, is opening an exciting new location in Q4 of this year called Provost & East. Last week, Office Freedom were given the opportunity to take a look inside and see how work on the building is progressing. Although still under construction, you can really visualise just how amazing this space is going to be once it’s complete!

Why Provost & East?

The inspiration behind the trendy-sounding name is actually very simple – it’s based on the building’s geographical location. P&E is sandwiched between Provost Street and East Road, just to the North of Old Street’s Silicon Roundabout. The City Fringe location makes it a great place for startups and growing businesses in the tech and creative sectors.

Insider info: There’s a new cocktail bar at the back of the building which makes for the perfect Friday drinking spot.

Provost & East is still a work in progress, but promises to be a vibrant hub of business and innovation by the end of 2018!

Flexible workspace expert and Account Executive, Nick Hill, kindly showed us round various parts of the building – but not before we donned our hard hats and boots!

Space for up to 2000 entrepreneurs

P&E is set to be one of WeWork’s largest spaces in London to date, with nine floors of flexible workspace to accommodate around 1900 people. Private offices and coworking areas will be available to let, and occupiers will have unlimited access to shared breakout spaces and a roof terrace sporting a table tennis and inspiring views of London.

Office design and refurbishment specialists LTB (who were acquired by WeWork earlier this year) are responsible for the design and fit out of the space. Over the past three and a half years, LTB has delivered more than 2m sq ft of space for WeWork in London – and counting.

A new design aesthetic

With the Category A fit out nearly finished, designers are poised with their paintbrushes at the ready to bring the blank canvas to life with a vibrant colour scheme and quirky design elements. Provost & East will look similar to the operator’s Finsbury Pavement location – think bold colours, asymmetrical design and Scandi-inspired furnishings.

What you can expect from a membership

Residents at Provost & East will automatically become part of an international community comprised of a range of interesting businesses. Fellow members can be contacted through an app, and regular events are held across the operator’s global network of flexible workspaces. The monthly fee includes the rent for a private office (or coworking desk) and all the perks that come with it, from yoga and exercise classes to free beer and prosecco.

Next steps…

If any of the following points apply to you or you just like the sound of P&E, we’d recommend you arrange a viewing at this workspace before it reaches capacity. Even though it’s not opening for a few months, desks are already being snapped up by businesses who want a piece of the action.
