Danielle completed a qualification in environmental studies at the University of Waterloo and all through her school years she moved to Guatemala and Costa Rica. In her 3rd year of studies she visited Ecuador for two semesters. During the initial semester she worked on academic studies, while during the next semester she offered in a coastal jungle project where she presented environmental knowledge to local children, got involved in a tree planting program and worked in a women’s program.

That year in Ecuador truly changed her life – Danielle returned someone different. Probably the most striking experience was that she had produced a strong distaste for the materialism that’s therefore prevalent in our western societies. A key memory for Danielle was achieving a family group who’d walked for four times through the jungle with a sick baby-to make an effort to reach medical facilities. Regrettably the family did not reach a medical facility over time and the child died.
