This is how to show your recent post on the sidebar...follow my step carefully...

1.Choose layout-->page elements--> add a gadget and choose HTML/Javascript...




2. Copy this code and paste it..change YOURBLOGNAME to your blog name..and if you want to change number of posts (numposts = 10) to any number that you want..Paste it..Done!
