Court Remands Three in Custody for Harassing Woman in Ichhra Bazaar

In Lahore, an anti-terrorism Court (ATC) granted police custody of three suspects accused of harassing a woman in Ichhra Bazaar for wearing a shirt with Arabic print. The suspects, Muhammad Nadeem, Adil Sarwar, and Altimash Saqlain, were presented before the court by Ichhra police, seeking a 14-day physical remand. The investigating officer informed the court that the suspects had harassed the woman and incited others to harm her. The court granted a three-day physical remand and instructed the police to present the suspects again on March 20 for further proceedings.

In another case, a judicial magistrate remanded a suspect, Ahsan Shah, in custody over his alleged involvement in the murder of Ameer Balaj Tipu, the son of the late Arif Ameer alias Tipu Truckanwala. The Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) presented Shah before the court, and Magistrate Sadaf Batool granted a five-day physical remand, directing the police to produce him again on March 23. Shah is suspected of providing information to prime suspects regarding Balaj's whereabouts, leading to his murder at a wedding party in Chuhng.

Meanwhile, PTI-Punjab President Dr. Yasmin Rashid criticized the government for what she called renewed arrests reminiscent of the events of May 9. Speaking to reporters during her appearance in the ATC, she alleged that baseless terrorism cases were being filed against PTI workers while no action was taken against opposition figures who staged protests during the PTI government. Additionally, former governor Omar Sarfraz Cheema expressed concern over the government's failure to provide him with medical treatment despite a court order. Cheema claimed that his arms had been frozen for the past five months due to a disease contracted from substandard jail food.

The ATC adjourned the hearing of various cases against PTI leaders and workers until April 1.
