The Grand Theft Auto franchise is a reference in the gaming world when we talk about open world games and several independent developers are inspired by the very popular Rockstar Games series to create their own products.

O studio 2nibble is another one that bet on GTA’s successful formula and is creating a game that aims to be another kind of “Brazilian GTA”. Call of “Impunes”, the production will be set in Balneário Camboriú and Camboriú, in Santa Catarina.

The Impunes game has been developed by the 2nibble studio for a year and a half, and should feature famous spots in this region of the coast of Santa Catarina, such as the Pontal Norte Ferris wheel, the bodinho and the Yachthouse building, known for Neymar’s investment.

“We believe that other Cities, such as São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro, are already overrepresented in national and international media. Brazil is much more than this. Balneário Camboriú, together with Camboriú, are very interesting cities for an open world game , as it is a place with a rich population, but still with poor areas, surrounded by rural areas and many tourist attractions. In other words, there is everything in one place”, he told the g1 portal Valdir Júnior, who works as a programmer in the game .

In the game’s story, the names of cities and states will also be parodies, just like in GTA. The base city of Unpunished will be called Canary and Santa Catarina becomes Santa Camila. The production must also bring references to other states.

“São Paulo becomes São Pedro, Rio de Janeiro becomes Lago de Fevereiro, etc. It’s not just for us to create a new universe, like GTA does and it’s really interesting to delve into, but also to remind the player of that everything that happens in this game is a fiction of a new universe, and that these cities are just inspirations”, said Valdir Júnior.

According to the g1 portal, around six people currently work on the game: two from Santa Catarina, two from São Paulo, one from Minas Gerais and one from Canada. One of the 3D modelers is from the Santa Catarina city of Navegantes and helps with local references.

The game Unpunished It is in development and does not have a release date. Still according to the report, the studio’s idea is to release versions, available only to game supporters, increasingly complete, until the final compilation.

It is worth mentioning that the GTA franchise is famous for giving the player a lot of freedom. In game cities, the character can walk anywhere, drive cars, taxis, motorbikes, buses, trucks, ambulances and speedboats, participate in races, among other activities.

In addition to unpunished, other Brazilians also created the game “171”, with the same proposal of being a kind of GTA set in Brazil. At the moment, the game 171 already has a version available on Steam and is still under development.
