AirAsia CEO Faces Backlash for ‘Unprofessional’ Massage Photo During Meeting – What Really Happened?

AirAsia CEO

In the spotlight is Tony Fernandes, the big shot at Airasia, who’s getting some heat for a quirky picture. Imagine this: Tony, the former owner of Queens Park Rangers football club, shared a pic on LinkedIn. What’s in it? Well, him in a meeting, enjoying a massage without a shirt.

So, Tony says it’s been a stressful week, and he loves how in Indonesia and AirAsia culture, you can mix work discussions with a bit of relaxation. Social media isn’t being too kind, though. They’re calling it “unprofessional” and just plain “weird.”

Some folks online think Tony should be a role model for good work vibes, not showing off his body. Others say maybe CEOs like him should steer clear of LinkedIn. But, there are also some lighter comments, like someone joking that Tony’s unique office style is the real way to “work from home.”

Tony, educated at a fancy school called Epsom College, bought AirAsia for less than a buck from the Malaysian government in 2001. He also owned a football club and even had a go at Formula One with Caterham F1.

People often call him Malaysia’s answer to Richard Branson, the Virgin guy. These two once had a bet, and it ended with Branson dressing up as a stewardess on AirAsia flights.

According to Forbes, Tony’s worth 5 million now. That’s a lot, but it’s way less than the 0 million he had in 2014. Still, he’s a social media pro. Back in 2014, he used it to keep everyone in the loop when he visited Surabaya, Indonesia, to meet families of the AirAsia flight QZ8501 passengers.
