After completing his BTech from IIT Kanpur, Tej — the youngest among seven siblings —got a job at HCL. In 2009, he shifted to New Jersey along with Sonal after accepting a job offer there. Both had careers in IT, including the human resources sector, relatives said. At the time of his death, Tej worked as aLead APIX Engineer for Ness Digital Engineering, according to his LinkedIn profile.
While media reports from New Jersey suggested that Tej apparently first murdered his wife and children and then killed himself, the reason that could have prompted him to take such a step could not be known.
