NEW DELHI: Viacom 18 has emerged as the winner of the BCCI‘s bilateral Media Rights for the next five years, the board’s secretary Jay Shah confirmed on Thursday. The new term for the international and domestic matches in India is from September 2023 to March 2028.
Viacom 18 now has the media rights of bilateral matches along with the digital rights of Indian Premier League (IPL) and Women’s Premier League (WPL).
Announcing the results of the e-auction, Jay Shah posted on social media platform X: “Congratulations @viacom18 for winning the @BCCI Media Rights for both linear and digital for the next 5 years. India Cricket will continue to grow in both spaces as after @IPL, and @wplt20, we extend the partnership @BCCI Media Rights as well. Together we will continue to capture the imagination of Indian cricket fans.”

Jay Shah extended thanks to Star India and Disney+Hotstar for their support over the years.
“Also a big thank you to @starindia and @DisneyPlusHS for your support over the years. You played a key role in making India Cricket reach its fans across the globe,” Jay Shah added.

The media rights cycle, which includes 88 matches in a nearly five-year period, commences with eight matches against Australia three ODIs in September before the 2023 ODI World Cup and five T20Is in November this year after the mega event concludes on November 19.
In April 2018, Star India had retained the television broadcast and digital rights for all India bilateral and domestic matches for the next five years at Rs 6,138 crore, outbidding Sony Sports and Viacom 18.
