PDP supporters rejoiced as the Bauchi State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal affirmed the victory of Governor Bala Mohammed of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the March 18th governorship election held in the state.

The tribunal has dismissed the petition filed by the All Progressives Congress, APC, and its governorship candidate, former Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar. The development is however not complete without consideration of appeal for a repeal of the judgment.

The APC supporters, especially in Kano, have celebrated the tribunal's judgment Wednesday, which sent the NNPP Kwankwasiyya's Abba Kabiru Yusuf, a.k.a Abba Gida-Gida out of Kano Government House by declaring APC's Nasir Gawuna as the credible winner of the 2023 governorship election.

The news is received barely few days after the leadership of the NNPP expelled her presidential candidate, Dr Mohammed Rabi'u Musa Kwankwaso - founder of the "KWANKWASIYYA" siyasiyya - from the party, following his alleged refusal to appear before the party’s Disciplinary Committee, as was reported.

Some political pundits would point out that expelling Kwankwaso from the party he nurtured from infancy and nourished to maturity isn't a fantasy but a scheme; a prelude to unseating his mentee, labeled with a new reference as "Abba Rusau" for demolishing what the Kwankwasiyya could consider as illegal structures but that which the former Governor Ganduje group could conclude as a crazy uncritical vendetta.

Kwankwaso won Kano - the lone state - at the presidential race, the only state equally said to be captured by the NNPP at the governorship race declared by the INEC.

In the judgment, the Kano state Governorship Election Petition Tribunal directed INEC to withdraw the certificate of return issued to the NNPP's Governor Gida Gida and to present same to APC's Gawuna, following the deduction of 165,663 ballots from the total votes scored by Governor former, which the court considered as invalid ballots that appeared not to have the INEC's appendage in signature and stamp terms.

In the new Kano governorship results, according to the tribunal judgment, APC scored 890,705 while NNPP scored 853,939 votes.

The judgment was indeed a welcome development to those who considered the Kwankwasiyya's demolition of "illegal structures in Kano, being executed by Gida-Gida, praying that it marked the beginning of the fall of the Kwankwasiyya siyasiyya in not only Kano state but across the country.

Curfew In Kano: A 24-hour curfew was declared in Kano following the judgment of the election petitions tribunal with a view to subdue the outlawed.

Even though the Kwankwasiyya would challenge the judgment before the appeal court, the political commentators would ask, "under what political party, now that Kwankwaso was expelled from the NNPP?

Another critical question is whether or not Gida-Gida will as a Governor continue enjoying full financial autonomy to run the state before the determination of the superior and final court, now that he, by the judgment, no longer has the legitimacy as a Governor.

The APC positive-jubilating-supporters across the country and more particularly, across the Northeast would say that "Kano is taken, Adamawa state is loading" with high hope.

"Already the APC governorship candidate in Adamawa state, the lone hopeful female governorship candidate in the country has been referred to as the Governor-In-Waiting. She, through her Counsel has presented weighty evidence with the prayer for the tribunal to withdraw the certificate of return issued to PDP's Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, a.k.a Fresh Air and to present same to the female governorship candidate.

"Or as the media reported of the final adoption waiting for judgment that the APC's Binani, as the petitioner; would want the tribunal to declare her as the legitimately elected, following the irregularities as observed even by the INEC Commissioner for Adamawa state, Hudu Yunusa Ari Esq, to have made the first declaration of her as the winner of the 2023 governorship election". The political pundits point out.

The PDP supporters who would think that it would be impossible to unseat their governor - having been sworn in - even by the law, would argue that the court would quash the Binani petition.

The APC Binani supporters would ask, "do the naysayers consider the weighty evidence admitted? Well, Kano is taken and Adamawa is loading…"
