Kanayo O Kanayo, a veteran Nollywood actor, has criticized Reno Omokri and Uche Maduagwu for their comments on John Okafor, popularly known as Mr. Ibu, who is currently battling an undisclosed illness. On Wednesday, Omokri, a former media aide to ex-president Goodluck Jonathan, called out Peter Obi, the 2023 presidential candidate, asking him to financially support the ailing actor.

Omokri argued that some of the billions raised by Obi during the election should be used to help Mr. Ibu. Uche Maduagwu had also accused Nollywood actors of attacking the ace actor with “juju”.

Reacting to the remarks via Instagram, Kanayo condemned both critics for using Mr. Ibu’s illness as a “platform to trend”. The ace actor said calling out Peter Obi “is not a friendly but a wicked act”.

He also advised Omokri to be fair when addressing issues and to stop seeking attention.

“I condemn in strict terms Reno Omokri who is coming to call Peter Obi’s name. It is not a friendly thing, it is wicked, and the other guy, Uche Maduagwu, who talked about shame on top actors, shame on you too,” he said.

“I say shame on you because you do not have any value and level to call our names. It is an individual thing to do to support a colleague. It becomes a collective as the Actors Guild of Nigeria who are doing their best within their limited time.

“We compliment your effort in giving but nobody should use it as a platform to castigate, impune, or indict those who have not given”.
