Brief History of Manchester United

Manchester United is a famous football Club with a long and rich history. Here are some of the highlights of its history:

  • The club was founded in 1878 as Newton Heath L&YR Football Club by railway workers in Manchester.
  • The club changed its name to Manchester United Football Club in 1902 and moved to its current stadium, Old Trafford, in 1910.
  • The club won its first league title in 1908 and its first FA Cup in 1909. It has since won a record 20 league titles and a record 12 FA Cups.
  • The club suffered a tragedy in 1958 when eight of its players died in a plane crash in Munich. The team was rebuilt by manager Sir Matt Busby, who led the club to its first European Cup in 1968.
