• The club was founded in 1878 as Newton Heath L&YR Football Club by railway workers in Manchester.
• The club changed its name to Manchester United Football Club in 1902 and moved to its current stadium, Old Trafford, in 1910.
• The club won its first league title in 1908 and its first FA Cup in 1909. It has since won a record 20 league titles and a record 12 FA Cups.
• The club suffered a tragedy in 1958 when eight of its players died in a plane crash in Munich. The team was rebuilt by manager Sir Matt Busby, who led the club to its first European Cup in 1968.
• The club entered a golden era under manager Sir Alex Ferguson, who took charge in 1986 and retired in 2013. During his tenure, the club won 13 Premier League titles, 5 FA Cups, 4 League Cups, 2 UEFA Champions Leagues, 1 UEFA Europa League, 1 FIFA Club World Cup, and 1 UEFA Super Cup.
• The club also produced some of the world’s best players, such as George Best, Bobby Charlton, Denis Law, Eric Cantona, David Beckham, Cristiano Ronaldo, and Wayne Rooney.
• The club is currently managed by Erik ten Hag, who joined the club in 2023 from Ajax.
