Pastor (Dr) William F. Kumuyi, the founder and General Superintendent as fondly called by his followers of the Deeper Christian Life Ministry (DCLM) and the Deeper Life Bible Church (DLBC), one of the biggest churches in Nigeria who is known for his holiness preaching and his courage in standing for the truth for 50 years.

The former university don has expressed his ‘views’ on some political issues related to Tinubu’s ministerial lists. According to the cleric, “Let’s forget the past. This is a new day, and I believe; we all believe that we’re going to see new things for our country through our President and through the members of the cabinet. Good things will happen” which was believed to be referenced from the book of Mark 12:17KJV when the Pharisees try to tempt Him against the Roman government of Emperor Caesar,

Also, the cleric who had emphasised overtime from the of Romans 13:7-10 KJV, “Render therefore to all their dues: tribute to whom tribute is due; custom to whom custom; fear to whom fear; honour to whom honour. Owe no man anything, but to love one another: for he that loveth another hath fulfilled the law.”
However, many social media users didn’t understand this as it was presumed that the General Superintendent of one of African’s largest congregation was supporting and already taking side with corrupt politicians in Nigeria.
“Please stop using the name of God in vain. Religious leaders are one of the worst political sycophants disguising under the name of God to yarn trash,” Nattychemical tweeted.

chude__ wrote on his tweeter handle, “Do you realize there was a time he banned his church members from watching television? if you visit a Deeper Life member’s home then, they will boldly tell you they don’t have TV because their pastor said watching TV leads people to sin. Generations of Nigerians have listened to this kind of men over the years and you wonder why we are where we are. SMH.”
ConfidenceMomoh also tweeted, “I was born a deeper lifer infact twas inside easter retreat dey gave birth to me to tell you how deep it was my dad was even a pastor gan sef, we didn’t have television in our house we had only radio and we aren’t allowed to watch TV in a neighbour’s house or get grounded”

While negative reactions continued to flood the social media space, many individuals, who seems knowledgeable and understood the angle of the cleric having replied in various forms using through the microblogging site tweeter/(X),
Ewaochejohncohn tweeted, “They Drag Davido, Wizkid, Burna Man etc, today, Stream their Music tomorrow. And they are asking us to leave Deeper Life and our Daddy because of the myth of Not Watching TV or his Prayer and Support for the Present Government. As you people normally say! ON COLOS”
RuthyBaa wrote “Pastor Kumuyi/Deeper Life is not the cause of your problems, neither are we the cause of inflation. Go pour your frustrations elsewhere mbok! When y’all are done dragging kindly release our pastor back to us o. We get program tomorrow”
Saxfreak explained, “Someone has been consistently teaching the totality of God’s word since 1973. Never supported any party or political candidate since then. Always praying for all our leaders and spreading hope across the citizens. You want to force your agenda on this 82 years old man with 50 years experience of running his church? Find another man.
