A German Panther Ausf G tank was captured somewhere in France on August 16, 1944.
Did you know? Panther tank crews were well aware of the vulnerability of their vehicle’s side armor. To bolster their protection, they improvised by attaching additional track links or spare roadwheels to the turret and/or the sides of the hull. The rear hull’s top armor, measuring just 16 mm (0.63 in) in thickness, featured two radiator fans and four air intakes above the engine compartment, making it susceptible to strafing by aircraft.
