Car theft in the nation’s capital has decreased thanks to the work of the Anti Vehicle Lifting Unit (AVLU) of the Islamabad Capital Police (ICT).
At a press conference held at Police Lines Headquarters, Capital Police Officer (CPO) Operations Shakir Hussain Dawar disclosed this information. He gave the press information about the AVLU’s campaign against auto thieves.
Car theft incidents in Islamabad have decreased by 10% from the previous year, according to Dawar. He continued by saying that the AVLU had so far arrested 125 members of two dozen well-known gangs.

178 stolen cars valued at Rs. 462.5 million were taken out of their possession during the operation. Moreover, CPO Operation claimed that the arrest of these offenders was made possible by efficient coordination and contemporary surveillance methods.
Furthermore, the Safe City system’s surveillance cameras played a critical role in breaking up extremely well-organized auto theft groups, most notably the infamous Bilal Sabit Gang. Car theft has decreased in the city as a result of it.
Vehicles that had been reported stolen from various regions of the nation, including KP, Punjab, Azad Kashmir, Balochistan, and Gilgit-Baltistan, were found by the police during their crackdown. When stolen cars were found during raids, CPO Operations notified the owners and gave them back the vehicles.
