The Pakistan Super League Governing Council met on Monday at the National Cricket Academy in Lahore under the leadership of Zaka Ashraf, Chairman of the PCB Management Committee.
The meeting covered a wide range of topics, and the following are the main conclusions:
• There will be six clubs participating in the upcoming ninth season. There won’t be any new teams in the upcoming season. The PCB will keep looking into chances for women’s league or exhibition matches during PSL in order to support and promote women’s cricket.
• The season’s viewing window will be between 8 February and 24 March 2024. The following meeting will confirm the final timetable.
• It was determined that as part of its contingency preparation, the PCB would keep in regular contact with the franchises to look into potential substitute venues.
• The late Alamgir Tareen, the former owner of the Multan Sultans, was honored and remembered during the conference for his contributions to Pakistan cricket. “He was known for this dedication, passion, and remarkable contributions to cricket and will be missed,” Zaka Ashraf remarked during the meeting.
• A thorough debate of the PSL 9’s structure, including the tender process for commercial assets, media rights, and digital assets, took place.
• Lastly, a report on the seventh PSL edition was given to the group, and the franchisee representatives were informed of its success. Franchises were grateful for the work done by PCB, the government, and all parties involved in putting up the event in the four sites.
