The New York Jets Defense should be the driving force that leads them to the Super Bowl this year. Yes they added MVP and Super Bowl champion Aaron Rodgers and other pieces, but it’ll be the defense that gets them that coveted trophy.
While there has been plenty of talk about Rodgers, new offensive weapons and currently the Sean Payton comments, the Jets defense remains a crucial factor in the team’s success. Even if Rodgers performs brilliantly and enters the MVP conversation, if the Jets defense takes a step back, the team will struggle to win. They face tough opponents this year, including the Buffalo Bills twice and the Chiefs.
Interestingly, the Jets had one of the easiest schedules last year in terms of the quarterbacks they faced. It will be intriguing to see if their defense can maintain the same level of performance this year. The season opener against Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills, a formidable opponent, will be a litmus test for the team’s defensive strength.
Last year, the Jets defense was easily one of the biggest surprises of the NFL season to everyone not a Jets fan and they were a team on the cusp of making the playoffs. Despite having some of the worst quarterback play in the entire NFL, they still had a fighting chance to make it into the playoffs.
Adding to their strength, they signed one of the larger players in the NFL, Al Woods. Woods, a veteran in the locker room, is not only a formidable player but also a fun presence to be around. With these additions, the Jets defense has a strong chance of performing exceptionally well this year.
