Nicki Minaj and Mike WiLL Made-It are being sued over the 2014 Pinkprint cut I Lied

Nicki Minaj and Mike WiLL Made-It are facing a lawsuit filed by a producer who alleges they unlawfully appropriated his beat for the 2014 track “I Lied” from The Pinkprint album.

According to a recent report from TMZ on June 26, the Atlanta-based producer Julius Johnson claims that the beat used in “I Lied” resembles a composition he created before the song’s release. Johnson contends that his work, “Onmysleeve,” was published on YouTube in September 2011.

However, he asserts that a hard drive containing his music was stolen during a studio session while attending the Art Institute of Atlanta two years later. Intriguingly, Johnson suggests that individuals affiliated with Nicki Minaj and Mike WiLL may have been at the institution around the same time and potentially gained access to his stolen hard drive.

In his lawsuit, Johnson seeks a portion of the profits derived from the song and an injunction prohibiting further usage of his beat without proper acknowledgment and credit.

In response to these allegations, a source close to Nicki Minaj reportedly commented, “Clearly, Nicki is a lyricist, so the claim in terms of production will obviously have to be addressed by the applicable parties.”

This legal dispute arises close to another lawsuit recently filed against Nicki Minaj. In this separate case, a jewelry store accuses her of causing damage to items that were lent to her.

RadarOnline obtained photographs showcasing several pieces Minaj acquired from Roseark, a West Hollywood establishment. Among the jewelry displayed is a diamond ring with two missing components.

A contractual agreement solidifies the arrangement between Minaj and the store, bearing the signature of her stylist, Brett Alan Nelson. The invoice explicitly states that the transaction was deemed “final,” stipulating “no refunds or exchanges.”

Roseark alleges that Minaj and her team failed to return 66 items within the agreed timeframe and, upon eventual return, the jewelry exhibited defects. As a result, the “Super Bass” rapper was sent a bill amounting to $26,239.50, along with interest, which reportedly remains unpaid.

Responding to these accusations, Minaj’s attorney, Jordan Siev, commented, “We have not received any evidence indicating that Nicki caused any damage to the jewelry in question.” Siev further characterized the lawsuit as an ordinary insurance claim by the jeweler, seemingly designed to garner publicity and seek unwarranted compensation. He assured that they would vigorously defend against the lawsuit.
