Checking Your Data Usage 

The first step in checking which apps are consuming your data is to check your data Usage. To do this, follow the steps below: 

  • Navigate to the Settings app on your iPhone and enter the Cellular section. 
  • Scroll down the Cellular settings page to view the list of apps, sorted by data consumption. The applications that have consumed data the most will appear at the very top of the list.

Blocking App Access to Mobile Data

Once you have identified the apps that are consuming most of your data, you can block their access. To do this, follow the steps below:

  • Tap the toggle switch next to the app’s name. This will disable the app’s access to mobile data
  • If you wish to grant an app permission to access mobile data again, you’ll have to enable the toggle switch by following the first step outlined above

Resetting Data Usage Statistics

After taking the steps above, the next step to take if you want to further optimize data usage is to reset data usage statistics. This will help reset your cellular usage, and you will be able to track the data usage from that moment going forward. Here’s how to go about it:

  • Scroll to the very end of the list of apps in the “Cellular” section.
  • Next, you will find the “Reset Statistics” button. Tap on it to reset the counter.
  • Confirm your selection by tapping “Reset Statistics” in the confirmation dialog box.
