PCMC Education Department Allocates Funds via DBT to Empower Students’ Educational Pursuits

The Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) Education Department has taken a commendable step towards promoting education by disbursing a substantial amount of Rs 10.09 crore as Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) to over 28,000 students from class 1 to 8 for the upcoming academic year 2023-24. This financial assistance, provided under the DBT scheme, aims to alleviate the burden of educational expenses for students across primary and secondary schools within the civic limits, fostering a brighter future for the younger generation.

PCMC Education Department Empowers Young Minds through DBT Scheme

The DBT scheme has proven to be a game-changer, ensuring a transparent and streamlined process of transferring funds directly to the beneficiaries’ bank accounts, thus eliminating intermediaries and minimizing delays in disbursals. This technology-driven approach employed by PCMC’s Education Department has enabled timely financial support to students, enabling them to focus wholeheartedly on their studies without being bogged down by financial constraints.

Financial Aid Aligned with Academic Growth

In this progressive initiative, students belonging to classes 1-4 are entitled to receive Rs 3,500 funding, while those in classes 5-10 receive Rs 3,700 directly in their bank accounts. The funds are intended to facilitate the purchase of necessary study material, empowering students with the tools they need to thrive in their academic endeavors.

Quality Assurance Through DBT

Commenting on the positive impact of the DBT scheme, PCMC Commissioner Shekhar Singh asserted that it has effectively resolved the quality issues pertaining to academic materials. In the past, the education system faced complaints from parents and activists about substandard materials. However, with the introduction of DBT, the power to choose the academic material lies with the parents, ensuring they can make informed decisions for their children’s education.

Positive Feedback from Parents, Students

Pradeep Jambhale-Patil, the additional commissioner of PCMC, lauded the dedication and efficient implementation of the DBT scheme by the Education Department, receiving praise from parents, students, and all stakeholders alike. The success of this initiative reflects PCMC’s unwavering commitment to nurturing academic growth and empowering the future leaders of society.

PCMC Implements Robust Mechanisms to Monitor Funding Usage

To further ensure the judicious use of the funding, parents are required to submit their study material receipts to the respective school principals, ensuring that the funds are utilized exclusively for academic purposes. A team of supervisors oversees the inspection of these receipts, guaranteeing accountability and transparency in the utilization of funds.

PCMC’s Vision for a Brighter Tomorrow

Apart from the DBT initiative, the education department has also made strides in providing 40,316 uniforms to students, an effort to create an inclusive and conducive learning environment for all.

The PCMC Education Department’s unwavering dedication to enhancing educational opportunities and fostering a supportive ecosystem for students has earned accolades from various quarters. With around 128 civic schools, comprising 110 primary and 18 secondary institutions, PCMC continues to champion education as a vital force for societal progress.
