Irani Cafe Owner Arrested for Mental and Physical Harassment; Allegations of Involvement of Builder’s Daughter Emerge”
The renowned Irani Cafe owner, Sayyed Mohammad Reza Ahmad Dekhanpur, has been taken into custody following serious allegations of mental and physical harassment made by his wife. She further claims that his abusive behavior has been influenced by the daughter of a prominent city-based builder.
The 36-year-old dentist, who complained, has accused Dekhanpur of demanding a staggering amount of Rs 9 crore in exchange for granting her custody of their son. Wanowrie Police acted promptly upon receiving the complaint and arrested Dekhanpur on Monday night. Senior Police Inspector Bhausaheb Patare of Wanowrie Police Station confirmed the arrest, stating that Dekhanpur was presented in court today and remanded to three-day police custody. Regarding the involvement of Richa Bhansali-Agarwal in the alleged torture and harassment, Patare mentioned that she is currently evading authorities, but they are actively searching for her while continuing the investigation.
The First Information Report (FIR) reveals that the complainant has accused Dekhanpur of extortion and claimed that he demanded the exorbitant sum to secure the custody of their 13-year-old son. Additionally, she has alleged that Bhansali-Agarwal, the daughter of a prominent developer, has threatened and physically harmed her.
In the filed First Information Report (FIR), the complainant describes a series of distressing events involving her husband, identified as Dekhanpur. According to the complainant, Dekhanpur would confine her to a room without food for several days and subject her to brutal beatings. She admits that she contemplated suicide but refrained from doing so out of concern for her son’s well-being. In an attempt to resolve the dispute peacefully, she engaged in counseling sessions at the Iranian consulate in Mumbai. However, during one of these sessions, Dekhanpur took away her son’s passport and other important documents. In March 2023, she complained to the Wanowrie police station, prompting them to summon Dekhanpur. Angered by the complaint, Dekhanpur returned home and subjected her to another severe beating.
The complainant reveals that she refrained from disclosing the incidents to anyone out of fear of defamation. In May 2023, she received a notice from the family court, informing her that Dekhanpur had filed a petition seeking custody of their son. She alleges that Dekhanpur demanded a sum of Rs 9 crore to withdraw the custody petition, as communicated through his lawyer. With the assistance of her father, the complainant filed a complaint with the Wanowrie police.
