Exciting Additions and Celebrations: Michelin Guide Singapore 2023 Announces New Entries and Special Awards

The Michelin Guide Singapore 2023 was announced in a live ceremony at the Parkroyal Collection Marina Bay hotel. This year, there are a total of 55 Michelin Guide restaurants, with five new entries to the one-star list.

The new entrants to the one-star list include:

  1. Sushi Sakuta
  2. Born (contemporary restaurant)
  3. Poise (modern European eatery)
  4. Seroja (pays tribute to flavors from the Malay Archipelago)
  5. Willow (combines Japanese cooking with regional influences)

There were no changes among the nine three- and two-starred restaurants, which range from the French institution Les Amis to Thevar, a restaurant that blends Indian cuisine with European cooking.

Among the 46 restaurants that retained their one star were popular establishments such as Burnt Ends, Candlenut, Summer Palace, Marguerite, and Hill Street Tai Hwa Pork Noodle, which is the only hawker stall on the list.

During the event, four special awards were given out:

  1. Kevin Wong of Seroja received the Young Chef Award and Green Star sustainability recognition.
  2. Desmond Wong of Shoukouwa won the Service Award.
  3. Makoto Iwabuchi received the Sommelier Award.

However, it was not good news for all, as Shisen Hanten dropped from two stars to one, and Shang Palace lost its one star.

Apart from the Michelin stars, the Bib Gourmand winners were also announced, with 79 restaurants and eateries making it to the list. Among them were 17 new hawker stalls, including Hui Wei Chilli Ban Mian at Geylang Bahru Food Centre and Nam Sing Hokkien Fried Mee at Old Airport Road Food Centre.
