The Buffalo Bills defense was already reeling from injury before heading to London to face the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 5.
The defense suffered another blow in the first quarter when All-Pro linebacker Matt Milano went down with what the franchise called a knee injury. The Bills were quick to rule out Milano for the rest of the game after the medical staff carted him off the field.
Milano suffered the injury with 7:50 left in the first quarter while trying to tackle Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence on third down. Milano caught his leg under numerous players as he tried to make the game-changing play.

Jamie Erdahal of NFL Network added that Milano had a full cast on his leg from his shin to his thigh, which is indicative of a major injury, though nothing yet has been confirmed by the league or franchise.
The Bills also suffered other key injuries in the first quarter in defensive tackle DaQuan Jones and defensive end Kinglsey Jonathan.
The NFL world was quick to react to the grim news for the Bills:
Hard to overstate how big of a loss that is for the Bills… most important piece outside of JA/SD on that team https://t.co/qKSsKra00h

Matt Milano might be their best defensive player and Jones is their most underrated. And they are already without their most improved player in Greg Rousseau and will be without Tre White for the rest of the season. Not good.

Bills losing two of their best defensive vets on back to back weeks is rough. https://t.co/OmDUGSv7Qc

Milano played collegiately with the Boston College Eagles. The Bills drafted him with the 163rd pick in the fifth round of the 2017 NFL Draft. He signed a four-year, $44 million contract extension with Buffalo in March 2021.
