Kenosha area events for Saturday, Oct. 7

Oct. 7 is the final day of Walk Your Dog Week. It’s also National Pizza Month, so why not walk with Spot to get a slice somewhere?

The Kenosha HarborMarket celebrates Italian culture from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. today. The market, located at Second Avenue and 56th Street on the Downtown lakefront, will feature Italian-related entertainment and activities under a big tent, including Bill Serritella performing “The Sounds of Sinatra” from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Note: Bring a lawn chair to enjoy the Sinatra songs, along with a risotto cooking demonstration by chef Mary Radigan of Tenuta’s Deli.

Head to Petrifying Springs Park today for Flannel Fest, featuring the Jockey Undie Run and a Lumberjack Show. There will also be food trucks and live music, along with a Pet Costume Contest and a “Most Interesting Beard” Contest. It all starts at 11:30 a.m. with the Undie Run, a 3K run/walk in the park, 5555 Seventh St. in Somers. The race will be followed by Flannel Fest, hosted by Petrifying Springs Biergarten. Activities include the Paul Bunyan Lumberjack Show, with showtimes at 1, 3 and 5 p.m.; the beard contest at 12:30 p.m.; a dog fashion show at 2:30 p.m.; and live music from Kyle Jennings, playing from 6 to 9 p.m. Admission is free.

The Lakeside Players production of the musical “Madagascar Jr.” continues with two performances today (at 2 and 7:30 p.m.) at the Rhode Center for the Arts, 514 56th St. Tickets are $17 at rhodecenter.org or at the door. The show runs for two weekends, Oct. 6-15. Performances are 7:30 p.m. Friday, 2 and 7:30 p.m. Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday.

“Carrie: The Musical,” based on the Stephen King novel, wraps up its run with a final performance 7:30 tonight at Carthage College, in the Wartburg Theatre, 2001 Alford Park Drive. Tickets are $8-$14 at carthage.edu/tickets.

Yesterday’s Children, a horn-driven group that performs classic tunes by bands including Chicago, Blood Sweat & Tears, The Buckinghams and The Grass Roots, is performing tonight inside the Wyndham Garden Hotel on Kenosha’s harbor, 5125 Sixth Ave. The group plays from 7:30 to 10:30 p.m. Tickets at the door are $12.
