‘Not always easy’: Tommy Paul’s girlfriend opens up on life as a WAG

Model and entrepreneur Paige Lorenze has “made so many special connections” while travelling the globe in support of her boyfriend, American tennis pro Tommy Paul.

The social media sensation will be cheering on Paul at the 2023 U.S. Open in Flushing Meadows, where he’ll face Italy’s Stefano Travaglia in Monday’s opening round, and is especially grateful for the friendships she’s made within the tennis community, particularly the fellow partners of professional athletes, The New York Post reports.

“So many of the wives and girlfriends have been so warm and welcoming to me. I have made some amazing girlfriends in a short period of time while being on tour with Tommy and it’s really nice to feel like we have our own little support group,” Lorenze recently told The Post.

“We are always texting each other when our partners do well or have amazing results and we are all just genuinely happy for each other. I have such admiration for the wives and girlfriends of other players because I know what it’s like now — and it’s not always easy.

“I also think it’s nice that we can kind of make the (players) feel at home on the road. They really do not have an off season like other sports, so it’s a ton of sacrifice for them (and the wives and girlfriends). It truly takes a team, so I admire all the other girls on tour in that aspect honestly.”

Lorenze, 25, is eager to return to the US Open as last year marked the first tournament she ever went to support the world No. 14.

“I didn’t know much about the sport or what it took,” she said. “That said, this year will be even more special for me. I have seen a year of Tommy’s hard work and sacrifice and to come back full circle is a really special moment.”

Paul reached the third round of last year’s US Open and lost to Norway’s Casper Ruud, the tournament’s eventual runner-up.

This season has been especially busy for Lorenze, the founder of the apparel and accessories line Dairy Boy, which boasts nearly 50,000 followers on Instagram.

Over the weekend, Lorenze celebrated the launch of her label’s denim collection with a pop-up event in New York.

Inspired by her beginnings in the Northeast, at the heart of Dairy Boy is Lorenze’s connection to New England, where she skied growing up, as well as her love for horses, farms and “the simple pleasures in life.”

“I know I am who I am because of the way I grew up, being adventurous and getting outside and becoming aligned with nature,” she said.

With an exciting future ahead, Lorenze could not have imagined a more supportive partner by her side than Paul.

“Being in the public eye isn’t always easy, but my community never fails to make me feel loved and supported and that is what I focus on,” said Lorenze, who is curating homeware products for Dairy Boy such as candles, bedsheets and cosmetic bags.

“It is also helpful that Tommy is my biggest supporter and is always cheering me on wherever we are, he is someone I go to for advice often about everything.”

The U.S. Open began Monday, August 28, and runs through Sunday, September 10.
