FIBA World Cup 2023 MVP Odds – Edwards Pre-Tournament Favorite

Team USA is the favorite to win the 2023 Fiba World Cup, so it’s no surprise that the top of the MVP Odds board is littered with Americans. Anthony Edwards opens the event as the favorite — read on to see which of his teammates are behind him.

The 2023 FIBA Basketball World Cup tips off this weekend, with 32 nations battling in the Philippines, Japan, and Indonesia.

Despite having a very young roster, the United States is still the clear favorite, based on the FIBA World Cup odds board, to rebound from a disappointing 2019 showing that saw them leave without even a medal.

It’s also no surprise that, given the Americans’ status as the odds-on chalk, the top of the FIBA World Cup 2023 MVP odds board also is filled with players sporting the red, white, and blue.

Anthony Edwards is the favorite — but which of his teammates are behind him? And what non-Americans have the best chance to be named, well, the best?

Find out below with our latest odds to win the FIBA World Cup MVP.

FIBA World Cup 2023 MVP favorites

Anthony Edwards

The average age of Team USA is just 24.6 years old — and the 22-year-old Anthony Edwards perfectly embodies this team.

The dynamic Minnesota Timberwolves guard is a scoring machine, averaging a career-best 24.6 points per game in his third NBA season, while also posting career bests in both field goal and 3-point percentage.

“Ant” should, by all means, be counted on as the scoring star for the favored Americans, which puts him in the best position to be the MVP.

Jalen Brunson

Edwards may be the most skilled player on the USA roster, but the heart (and engine) of the squad will be New York Knicks point guard Jalen Brunson.

He’s been involved with the national program for almost a decade, and was one of the NBA’s true breakout stars in his Broadway debut last year, posting career highs in points (by almost eight per game), assists (up by 1.4), steals, and 3-point percentage — all while under the microscope from signing a big free-agent deal to play in New York.

One of the older players on the roster (he’ll be 27 on August 21), Brunson has the experience to keep calm on a big stage, the doggedness to compete with anyone, and with the ball in his hands more often than not, he also will be in the running for MVP.

Brandon Ingram

Notice a theme here with US-based players?

Ingram also is an elite scoring option for the Americans, as the 25-year-old forward posted a career-high 24.7 points and 5.8 assists per game last season, while shooting 39% from beyond the arc — and offers all this while being a mismatch for many defenders at 6-foot-8.

He’s averaged at least 23.8 ppg in four straight NBA seasons, and working as the other primary scoring option for Team USA, Ingram provides an interesting option in the event that Edwards struggles to score at all.

Understanding basketball odds

Sportsbooks have already posted FIBA World Cup MVP futures, which are constantly adjusted based on player performance — and if injuries arise.

Basketball futures odds will usually look like this:

This means that on a $100 bet, you’ll stand to win $700 if Brunson wins the MVP. If there is a particularly dominant player, you might see that a team has a minus sign (-) ahead of its odds.

This means that if you bet on Edwards, you would need to bet $150 to profit $100 if he wins the award.

Above we have posted the American odds for the FIBA World Cup. However, these are easy to convert to decimal odds or fractional odds with our odds converter tool.
