How Maya Jama made her millions: What boosted the bank balance of the humble Love Island host to a staggering £3million

She’s enjoyed a meteoric rise to fame over the past few years, having first gained major prominence thanks to her relationship with rapper Stormzy.

Maya Jama has since carved out an impressive career, having fronted a number of TV and radio shows before landing her big break as the host of Love Island this year, taking over from Laura Whitmore.

But while she’s dazzling in the world of TV – with it recently reported that she’s set for a whopping six-figure bumper pay day by impressed ITV bosses – it’s her fashion campaigns that have really boosted her bank balance.

The presenter, 28, is said to be worth an estimated £3million, with her newest campaign with Italian fashion house Dolce & Gabbana no doubt being a big help as it’s said to be ‘worth thousands’.

Having promoted everything from luxury fashion, to sportswear and make-up – and with Maya more in demand than ever – we take a look at the high profile campaigns that helped propel both her profile and her bank balance.

Dolce & Gabanna

In July, it was revealed that Maya had been unveiled as the new face of luxury fashion brand Dolce & Gabbana.

As the focus of its new autumn/winter 2023 campaign, Maya stunned in series of sizzling looks including a red latex coat and diamond encrusted D&G sunglasses as well as a black see-through dress.

The presenter also smouldered in an auburn wig as she pouted for the camera wearing a satin red gown costing £2,550.

Believed to be worth thousands, the Dolce & Gabbana deal has catapulted the Bristol-born beauty to the forefront of fashion.

Not only is she Vogue’s August cover star but Maya mingled with the likes of Kim Kardashian, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley and Dame Helen Mirren at the brand’s decadent unveiling of their latest Alta Moda collection in Puglia last month, posing for selfies with Dolce himself.

A source close to the star revealed: ‘This is an amazing deal for Maya and it takes her career to the next level.

‘It has been in the works for a while, and she is so happy that it is finally done, and she can tell people.

‘It’s the start of something really big for her and Dolce & Gabbana.’

Don’t mind me: The TV presenter went some way towards justifying her acquisition in a series of raunchy new stills from the iconic brand’s Fall-Winter 2023/24 ADV Campaign

Vogue

Though, not a campaign, following on from her epic new Dolce & Gabbana campaign, Maya landed the August front cover of British Vogue – which is sure to put her even more in demand.

The star took to Instagram to share a series of snaps from her photoshoot for the iconic magazine, with Maya admitting that she ‘burst into tears’ when she got the call.

In a heartfelt post, she penned: ‘Honestly. An absolute madness. We shot this months ago & it still hasn’t sunk in. The cover of Vogue.. little me on my own shot by the greatest to ever do it @stevenmeiselofficial.

‘I burst into tears as soon as I got the call, this was a life dream of mine that I wasn’t sure would ever even happen because it just has never happened, the only other ‘tv host’ (if you can even call her that) that I’ve ever seen on a vogue cover is Oprah which makes it even more wild & coming from where I come from it is just unheard of.’

She continued: ‘I don’t even really have the words to express how much this means to me and how surreal everything has felt recently.

‘I’m forever grateful to anyone who has believed in me throughout the years, I’ve been at it since 16 but this feels like it’s only just the beginning.

‘I sat last night and looked at previous British vogue covers in awe, so many legends and icons, an all I could imagine was my future grandkids getting sick of me telling them their nan was once a Vogue cover girl.

‘Cheers to exceeding our own expectations and a lil F you to those ‘stay in your lane’ voices, made my own lane by staying 100% true to myself, no switching up, no compromising & I hope this can encourage anyone who’s watched my journey so far to do the same.’

Rimmel

In April this year, it was announced that Maya had taken over from Kate Moss to be the global brand ambassador for Rimmel London.

The presenter signed a multi-million pound deal to replace the 49-year-old supermodel, who had been the role for almost 20 years.

Showing off her model looks, Maya posed for a stunning photoshoot to debut her partnership with the brand earlier this spring.

Of joining the brand, she said: ‘I grew up with this brand and have dreamed about saying the iconic ‘London look’ line on tv one day and now it’s happening I don’t even have the words, following in the footsteps of Kate Moss, Adwoa and more doesn’t even make sense in my mind but I am honoured.

’16-year-old me who moved to London from Bristol with a bag of dreams would not have believed you if you said 12 years later I would be a part of such a legendary London staple.

‘London is my home and now you can catch me living the London Look’.
