2:25 – Kingdom Of Bahrain July Stakes (Group 2) (Colts & Geldings) Cl1 (2yo) 6f ITV: MAXIMUM IMPACT (e/w) @ SP with SpreadEx – We last saw this juvenile flopping in the Windsor Castle Stakes at Royal Ascot in June (last of 23) but he was sent off just 7/2 for that race and it was clearly too bad to be true. The fact he’s out again so quickly suggests connections haven’t found any issues, but it might have been the first-time tongue-tie that he wore that day – it’s left off this time. He’s also stepped up to 6f here for the first time and prior that that poor Ascot run had gone into many a notebook with two nice wins. If you can forgive that last run this Alice Haynes runner looks overpriced.

3:00 – bet365 Handicap (Heritage Handicap) Cl2 (3yo 0-105) 6f ITV: ROUSING ENCORE (e/w) @ SP with SpreadEx – This Richard Fahey-trained 3 year-old has rather lost his way of late, but he might be worth chancing now he’s been gelded. Horse racing fans might remember him running a decent second in the G2 Mill Reef Stakes at Newbury last September and after that was rated 102. He’s now been dropped to a mark of 94 after some average runs this season, but is certainly looking well-treated on that Newbury form from last year and, if losing his tackle has helped, could be interesting with just 8-12 to carry. Oisin Orr rides and the Richard Fahey yard also won this race in 2013.
