Britney Spears fans troll Victor Wembanyama after disappointing NBA debut: ‘Voodoo is real’

Victor Wembanyama flopped during his NBA debut Friday following his bodyguard’s scandalous slapping incident with Britney Spears — and her fans took notice.

The Britney Army took to social media to poke fun at the 19-year-old French basketball player, who scored only nine points, made just eight rebounds and five blocks during the San Antonio Spurs’ game against the Charlotte Hornets.

One fan posted an old clip of Spears playing basketball during an early 2000s appearance on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show,” in which the pop star is seen making a shot while all dressed up.

“Britney scoring in heels take notes Victor Wembanyama,” the Twitter user captioned the clip.

Another posted a throwback photo of Spears in her old high school basketball uniform alongside a pic of her playing in a celebrity basketball game and captioned it, “Retweet if you think Britney Spears could beat Victor Wembanyama in 1:1.”

The shady post received more than 1,000 retweets and more than 3,600 “likes.”

A third fan added on Twitter, “Victor Wembanyama the walking twig got smacked and his reaction’s priceless. That Britney voodoo is real.”

Barstool Sports even joined in on the trolling, tweeting, “Did Britney curse Wembanyama or does he just stink?”

Wembanyama, who was signed to the Spurs as a No. 1 overall draft pick in June, admitted himself that he displayed a poor performance during the his first Summer League game.

“I didn’t really know what I was doing on the court, but I’m trying to learn for the next games,” he said in a post-game press conference.

The disappointing debut comes just two days after Wembanyama’s security guard Damian Smith slapped Spears, 41, during a night out in Las Vegas.

The “Toxic” singer tried to approach the rising basketball star to take a photo with him outside of celebrity hotspot Catch, but his bodyguard then backhanded her, hitting her in the face and knocking off her sunglasses.

Spears filed a police report for battery that same night and shared on social media a day later that she was completely caught off guard by what had occurred.

“Traumatic experiences are not new to me and I have had my fair share of them,” the “Hold Me Closer” singer wrote in a note posted on Twitter and Instagram Thursday. “I was not prepared for what happened to me last night.”

Spears said that the ordeal was “super embarrassing” and noted that her own security team has never assaulted any of her fans in her “years” of working in the entertainment industry.

“Physical violence is happening too much in this world. Often behind closed doors,” she continued. “I stand with all the victims and my heart goes out to all of you!!!”

Meanwhile, Wembanyama claimed to a group of ESPN reporters that he felt someone had “grabbed” him from behind during the incident.

However, a video that surfaced online Friday disproved that claim and showed that Spears had only lightly touched the pro baller on his back — as she had disclosed.

Spears called the incident “super embarrassing.”

The clip also showed the “Gimme More” singer looking visibly upset and shouting, “That’s America for you. F–k you all!” moments after the altercation.

Spears shared on Instagram Friday that she had viewed the video herself.

For more Page Six Style …

“I have felt helpless in most situations,” the “Oops! … I Did It Again” singer wrote, “and my experience in Vegas and my reaction was a cry out on all levels … I will say it !!!”

Spears claims she has not received an apology from Wembanyama.

The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department decided early Friday to not press charges against Smith.

An officer noted in a police report previously obtained by Page Six that the security guard “did not willfully or unlawfully use any force or violence upon Britney and probable cause did not exist an arrest was not made and a citation was not given.”

The Spurs and Wembanyama’s reps did not return Page Six’s requests for comment. Smith’s position on the team and whether he was reprimanded remains unclear.
