Aiken Women In Black and Moms Demand Action will hold a Vigil for Peace and Nonviolence today from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m., on Whiskey Road across from The Fresh Market (at Hitchcock Drive, the entrance to Aiken Estates). Join us in seeking a path to peace this year in the midst of so much hate and violence. Everyone is welcome – men, women, children. Bring your own nonpartisan sign or use one of ours. The Hopelands Concert Series will be held Mondays through June 26. The Experiment & the I-20 Horns will perform at 6:30 p.m. today at the Roland H. Windham Performing Arts Stage at Hopelands Gardens, 135 Dupree Place. Lawn chairs and blankets may be brought, as well as picnic dinners and non-alcoholic beverages. Parking is at the Green Boundary Club, 780 Whiskey Road. Handicap parking is available at the Rye Patch parking lot on Berrie Road and the Hopelands Gardens parking lot. Joye in Aiken Jazz Camp will be held from Thursday to Sunday, June 25 at the USC Aiken Etherredge Center. The camp is open to rising ninth graders through twelfth graders. Instruments accepted are trumpet, trombone, saxophone, clarinet, drums, keyboards, string double bass and electric guitar. Other instruments such as violin and voice can be considered.

This event is for people age 50 and older. Tickets are $15 per person or $25 per couple. Ticket sales run through June 16 and can be purchased at the Lessie B. Zion Hill Missionary Baptist Church will celebrate its 139th church anniversary on Sunday, July 2, at 2 p.m. Rev. Dr. Chauncey Scott, Sr. is the pastor. The guest pastor and church will be the Rev. Phillip Thomas of Zion Fair Missionary Baptist Church. The church is located at 130 Independent Blvd.
