Harmanpreet Kaur Ban: Indian captain Harmanpreet was banned for two matches, had to break stumps in the match

Harmanpreet Kaur slammed the bat stump expressing her anger against the umpire’s decision. All the veterans had expressed displeasure over his behaviour. Now he has been banned for two matches.

Indian women’s team captain Harmanpreet Kaur was forced to break the stumps in anger. ICC has banned him for two matches. Now she will not be able to play the next two matches for the Indian women’s team. In the third match of the ODI series against Bangladesh, Harmanpreet Kaur slammed the bat on the stumps after getting out. She was upset with the umpire’s decision and believed that she was given out wrongly. At the same time, after the end of the series, when both the teams were posing for photographs with the trophy, Harman had asked to call the umpires as well.

The ICC found Harmanpreet guilty in two separate cases and has been banned for two matches.
The International Cricket Council on Tuesday severely punished Indian women’s team captain Harmanpreet Kaur for her aggressive behavior during the third ODI against Bangladesh on Saturday. He has been suspended for the next two international matches after two separate breaches of the ICC Code of Conduct. “The incident occurred during the third match of the ICC Women’s Championship Series against Bangladesh in Dhaka on Saturday,” the ICC said in a release on Tuesday.

The ICC reported “the first incident in particular was when Kaur expressed her frustration by hitting the wickets with her bat after being given out at slip off spinner Nahida Akhtar in the 34th over of India’s innings.” Kaur was fined 50 percent of her match fee for a Level 2 offense and received three demerit points on her disciplinary record. He was found guilty of breaching Article 2.8 of the ICC Code of Conduct relating to ‘showing disagreement with an umpire’s decision’.”

Kaur was also fined 25 per cent of her match fee for a Level 1 offense relating to “public criticism in relation to an incident that occurred at an international match, openly criticizing the umpiring when both teams were posing for photographs with the trophy.”

The ICC said in its release that Harmanpreet has accepted the crime. “The Indian captain admitted the offense and agreed to the sanctions proposed by Akhtar Ahmed of the Emirates ICC International Panel of Match Referees. As a result, there was no need for a formal hearing and the penalty was applied immediately,” the ICC said.

Level 2 breaches typically carry a fine of 50 to 100 percent of a player’s match fee and three or four demerit points, while Level 1 breaches carry a minimum penalty of an official reprimand and a maximum fine of 50 percent of a player’s match fee and one or two demerit points.

In Kaur’s case, the four demerit points were converted into two suspension points, suspending her for one Test match or two ODIs or two T20Is, whichever comes first for the team.
