Zuckerberg’s company has spent more than $40 million (about Rs 330 crore) on his personal security in the last three years. This is being done under the guise of millions of dollars in funding from his family-run foundation to ‘defund the police’ groups.

A report quoting investigative journalist Li Fang from a foreign media institute said that the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative (CZI) had donated $3 million (Rs 24.78 crore) since 2020 to PolicyLink, an organization under the guise of DefundPolice.org .

DefundPolice.org bills itself as a one-stop-shop for organizers and advocates. It provides security to people looking for weapons, resources and training to protect themselves outside of police protection. The report states that CZI was founded by Zuckerberg along with wife Priscilla Chan. He has also given $2.5 million in monetary aid to “Solidaire”, which aims to abolish the police.

115 crore rupees will be spent this year

According to a company filing in February this year, Meta (Zuckerberg’s company) has increased its spending on Zuckerberg’s security to $14 million (Rs 115 crore) in 2023. This is an increase of $ 4 million (about Rs 33.4 crore) compared to $ 10 million (about Rs 82.61 crore) in the past several years. Also Zuckerberg has been allowed to use the money for various security and genuine needs.

The company highlighted that Zuckerberg’s security has been increased considering his position and importance to the company Meta. The company highlighted that Zuckerberg has requested to receive only one dollar in annual salary and has not received any bonus payments, equity awards or other incentive compensation.
