How to correctly uninstall an addon in Xenforo?

Did you think deleting the Addon folder will delete the addon from your forum without any issue? Well, that’s not the case in Xenforo. By doing this, your forum may crash or produce some serious front-end issues. It can produce blank spaces or may show some javascript errors. To avoid this, the Addons should be removed in the correct way.

Today we will learn to delete add-ons in Xenforo the correct way without causing errors. While the process is just the same as installing the addon (just in anticlimax steps). Let’s start:

  1. Go to ACP-Addons. You will see all the currently installed addons. There’s a setting (gear) icon on the right of all the add-ons.
For any addon, you wish to remove, select the setting icon and click ‘Disable’.

2. Once Disabled, again click on the setting icon, this time click on Uninstall. This will remove all the codes in use from the addons.

3. You will receive a popup for confirmation of the action. Click ‘Uninstall’. This will remove the addon completely from the forum.

Now just go to your hosting file manager and delete the addons folder from public_html/src/addons. And you are done with uninstalling addons from Xenforo completely without causing any issues to your ongoing forum.
