Adani Group plans to build 10 GW solar manufacturing capacity by 2027

Adani Group’s Ambitious Solar Manufacturing Plan

Adani Group plans to assemble 10 GW of Solar manufacturing capacity by 2027. The firm, which is presently extending its sun based assembling offices to satisfy the developing need for sunlight based chargers in India and abroad is supposed to be the biggest sun oriented power generator on the planet.

The article states that the extra manufacturing capacity would be built in Gujarat’s Mundra Special Economic Zone owned by Adani.

A sizable order book of over 3,000 MW in exports has been obtained by Adani Solar. The servicing of the booked orders is anticipated to take place within the following 15 months. Adani has secured USD 394 million in funding for solar manufacturing through a trade finance facility from Barclays PLC and Deutsche Banks AG, strengthening this growth trajectory.

India generated 71.10 GW of solar energy in July 2023, up from 2.63 GW in March 2014, but the manufacturing environment lagged behind. The government used both trade and non-trade barriers to enact reform, including safeguard tariffs, an ALMM (authorised list of module manufacturers), and a PLI (production-linked incentive) programme.

This gave private companies like the Adani group the impetus they needed to grow their investments in India’s solar manufacturing industry. Following the success of the group’s listed renewable energy generating business Adani Green Energy Limited (AGEL), Adani Enterprises (AEL) achieved progress in 2015 by establishing and incubating solar PV manufacturing with Adani Solar.

Adani Solar is renowned for making noteworthy strides in increasing its production capacity throughout the years. With a 1.2 GW cell and module manufacturing capability when it began its manufacturing journey in 2016, the firm achieved considerable progress in a relatively short amount of time. Adani Solar now boasts a stunning 4 GW module and 4 GW cell capacity, less than six years after it first entered the market.

According to the sources , Adani Group has built India’s largest solar PV capacity for cells and modules at the Mundra SEZ and has sold over 7 GW of modules since its establishment, meeting both domestic and international demand.

Adani Solar was one of the top three suppliers of solar modules in 2022, according to Mercom’s India solar industry Leaderboard 2023. As it begins a ground-breaking project in Mundra, Gujarat, to create the first fully integrated 10 GW solar manufacturing ecosystem by 2027, Adani Solar has reaffirmed its dedication to a greener tomorrow.

The facility, which will be the largest in the group, will provide a full solar production ecosystem, including metallurgical grade silicon, Photo-Voltaic (PV) modules, as well as all ancillaries and supporting utilities, which will be strategically co-located for optimal efficiency. According to them, it will be the largest manufacturing facility for the business and will generate over 13,000 green employment.

By offering considerable backward integration throughout the value chain for modules, cells, ingots, wafers, polysilicon, and ancillaries – EVA, Backsheet, glass, aluminium frames, junction box, and tracker – Adani Solar would improve India’s position as the world’s centre for solar manufacturing.

Adani Solar has been at the forefront of implementing digital transformation and has been an early adopter of new technology. The company’s technological competence has been bolstered by alliances with prestigious international institutes and certification laboratories including ISC, UNSW, PI Berlin, Fraunhofer, and others.
