Asia Cup 2023: Jasprit Bumrah to Miss Clash with Nepal for Personal Reasons

Jasprit Bumrah won’t be available for Team India, led by Rohit Sharma, in their vital Asia Cup 2023 encounter against Nepal on Monday. While the continental tournament is still taking place in Sri Lanka, pace spearhead Bumrah has gone home. India will play all of its tournament games in Sri Lanka even though Pakistan is the other co-host of the Asia Cup in 2023.

The legendary battle between India and Pakistan in the Asia Cup was restarted on Saturday by the record-breaking victors. In the rain-shortened match at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium, pacer Bumrah made a brief appearance against Babar Azam’s Pakistan as the tailender scored 16 off 14 balls. According to the reports, Bumrah, Team India’s star pacer for their second Asia Cup encounter, will be absent. For personal reasons, the Indian fast bowler has gone back home.

Bumrah has no fitness concerns

Bumrah is in excellent condition, and the pacer is merely going home for personal reasons. After a protracted injury absence, Indian pacer Bumrah had lately rejoined the team. The senior fast bowler led the team in the Ireland series without Rohit.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) granted the star pacer permission to fly back to Mumbai on Sunday for personal reasons. He has no fitness issues, according to a BCCI representative. The 29-year-old fast bowler is anticipated to re-join Team India’s lineup for the Asia Cup’s Super Four stage in Sri Lanka.

Bumrah out, Shami in?

Bumrah may be replaced in India’s forthcoming game against Nepal by veteran pacer Mohammed Shami. On Monday at Pallekele, match number five of the competition, Rohit and Co. will take on Asia Cup rookies Nepal. Shami, a veteran bowler, was benched for India’s Asia Cup opener against Pakistan.

The Men In Blue’s opening tournament game between India and Pakistan was postponed due to rain, which also caused the high-stakes match between the two traditional rivals to be called off

After the innings break, Babar Azam’s Pakistani team could not begin their innings in Pallekele due to the drizzle. Pakistan, a fierce adversary of India, has already qualified for the Asia Cup Super 4 round. With a convincing victory over Nepal, India can play Pakistan for the second time at the Asia Cup.
