The greatest player of all time, Lionel Messi, scored for Inter Miami once more, giving him six goals in as many games for his new team. Messi isn’t known for hitting goals from long range, but he altered that on Tuesday as Inter Miami played Philadelphia Union.
Messi has been on an incredible goal-scoring streak in the Leagues Cup. Messi contributed to one of Inter Miami’s goals as they won 4-1 and advanced to the tournament’s final.

With the goal, Messi increased his total to nine goals in six games. Venezuelan international Josef Martinez, Messi’s former Barcelona teammate Jordi Alba, and substitute David Ruiz each scored three goals for Inter Miami.
Three minutes into the game, Miami took the lead, leaving the home team in shambles. Sergii Kryvtsov of Ukraine played a long ball forward that caused confusion in the Union defence.
Martinez pounced on the pass and fired a shot past diving Andre Blake of Philadelphia.
Five minutes later, when Daniel Gazdag of Hungary was clear on goal but shot straight at Miami custodian Drake Callender, Philadelphia should have levelled.
After 19 minutes, Gazdag had a second golden opportunity, but his curling effort from the edge of the box went just wide.
If that opportunity gave Philadelphia hope, that hope was short-lived when Messi scored again to punish sloppy Union defence.
Martinez evaded Damion Lowe while the defender was distracted, releasing Messi, who had far too much time and space to fire a ferocious low shot from outside the box into the bottom corner and past Blake.
Even though Union had a lot of possession and territory, Miami scored the game-winning goal just before halftime.
On the 66th minute, Jakob Glesnes also blew a golden opportunity from close range by hooking over the bar.

Philadelphia had a chance to rally when Bedoya rushed in from a frantic corner in the 73rd minute, but Miami ended any hopes of a comeback when Ruiz restored the visitors’ three-goal lead six minutes from time.
