A new audio Chat feature for group discussions is being rolled out on Android beta by the Meta-owned messaging service WhatsApp.

According to WABetaInfo, beta users will now see a speech waveform indicator in a group chat. The Voice Chat will launch instantly when you select the waveform icon, and a special interface will then show up.

The Voice discussion will automatically cease after the first 60 minutes if no one joins. However, anyone with the option may begin a fresh audio conversation at any time.

Only a select few groups can use the new voice chat feature.

Although the feature is typically available for groups larger than 32 people, it’s possible that only up to 32 people can join a voice chat.

The audio chat feature’s key advantage is that it allows for the beginning of calls without ringing everyone in the group’s phones.

However, when a new voice conversation begins in their groups, all group members will receive a silent notification, and the group icon will display a tiny thumbnail of a voice chat within the chat list.

To ensure that only those involved in a voice call may hear what is spoken, this feature is secured via end-to-end encryption.

According to the source, certain users who install the most recent WhatsApp beta for Android update currently have access to the voice chat feature. However, as this update appears to be a wider release, some users of the app’s stable version may also be able to test out the feature.

The messaging service reportedly unveiled an admin review tool for group chats on Android beta on Sunday.
