feels Shardul Thakur could be India’s fourth seamer at ODI World Cup 2023.

Aakash Chopra, a former India opener, believes that Shardul Thakur should have claimed the fourth seamer slot in India’s World Cup squad following a spectacular Caribbean season. The all-rounder created a name for himself throughout the three-game ODI series and declared himself eligible for the 50-over World Cup in October and November. Thakur finished the series with the most wickets taken with eight throughout the course of the three games.

“You should give Lord Thakur a lot of praise. Since the 2019 World Cup, Lord Thakur has taken the most wickets for India in ODIs. The availability of space for the World Cup is a plus. In a video posted to his YouTube page, Chopra answered the query, “Who can be the fourth fast bowler after (Jasprit) Bumrah, (Mohammad) Shami, and (Mohammed) Siraj?

“It appears that Lord Thakur is currently the response to that query. Although Umran Malik has unexpectedly slipped behind on that list and we have begun to discuss him, for the time being it appears like Lord Thakur will win the World Cup.

After scoring 351 runs against the West Indies in the match-deciding third ODI at the Brian Lara Stadium, India was in a strong position to win the series. Before Shardul took four wickets and conceded 37 runs in 6.3 overs, Mukesh Kumar sent the top three batters back to the pavilion. With the help of Kuldeep Yadav’s two wickets and Jaydev Unadkat, who was playing in his first ODI in almost a decade, India defeated the hosts by 200 runs to win the game and seal the 2-1 series victory.
