Not Jadeja, but Rayadu feels THIS CSK player will replace Dhoni as captain.

A prospective replacement for MS Dhoni as the captain of the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) has been proposed by Ambati Rayudu. Since the team’s founding in 2008, Dhoni has been the undisputed leader of CSK, leading them to five IPL championships, including their most recent triumph over Gujarat Titans in IPL 2023. The CSK management’s task of finding a capable successor to Dhoni’s leadership is surely difficult. Rayudu thinks opener Ruturaj Gaikwad would be the best choice despite rumours that England Test skipper Ben Stokes would accept the position after being bought by CSK in the 2022 mini-auction.

Gaikwad’s leadership potential was discussed by Rayudu, who predicted that if given the chance to learn from Dhoni for about a year, he might lead the team for a long time—possibly 7-8 or even 10 years. Gaikwad’s cool demeanour, practical outlook, and great talent were lauded by Rayudu. Gaikwad, in his opinion, ought to play in all formats for the Indian cricket team and have a bigger role.

Gaikwad demonstrated his batting skills for CSK in the IPL 2023, with an astounding 590 runs in 16 games, including one century and 14 half-centuries. In addition, he has been chosen to lead Team India at the Asian Games in 2023, which will coincide with the ODI World Cup. The BCCI has chosen a backup Indian team for the T20 format competition at the Asian Games due to this schedule difficulty. Gaikwad is currently playing for the Indian Test team in a two-match series against the West Indies. He has also been included in the team for the ODIs, which will begin on July 27.
