Cristiano Ronaldo Makes History with Late Winner on His 200th Cap for Portugal against Iceland.

Cristiano Ronaldo was presented with a bouquet of flowers and a certificate to mark the momentous occasion, breaking yet another record for the former Real Madrid and Manchester United player.

In order to keep their flawless record in the Euro 2024 qualifying round, Portugal defeated Iceland 1-0 on Tuesday with a goal from Cristiano Ronaldo in overtime. Cristiano was making his 200th appearance for his nation. On a night when he added to his record for men’s international caps in Reykjavik, the 38-year-old striker steered in from close range for his 123rd Portugal goal in the 89th minute. “In my opinion, this is a wonderful accomplishment. Naturally, scoring the winning goal is even more spectacular, as Ronaldo told.

Ronaldo, who made his debut for his country in August 2003 at the age of 18, continued, “We didn’t play very well, but football can be like that occasionally. However, I believe that the goal we scored was one that we earned. I’m overjoyed to have 200 caps, but this is extra special.

The latest milestone for the former Real Madrid and Manchester United player, Ronaldo received a bouquet of flowers and a certificate to celebrate the momentous event.

Ronaldo failed to score in Portugal’s 3-0 victory against Bosnia and Herzegovina last week despite having scored twice in each of Portugal’s qualifiers in March, albeit against Liechtenstein and Luxembourg.

Against Iceland, he was often called offside, and early in the second half, he headed a corner just wide. But he once more disproved those who questioned coach Roberto Martinez’s judgement in selecting him by scoring the game-winning goal after Iceland was reduced to 10 men after Willum Thor Willumsson was dismissed.

Goncalo Inacio crossed the ball for Ronaldo to score in the 89th minute. Offside was initially ruled to have prevented the goal, but the decision was later overturned, and the Portugal captain was surrounded by his teammates.

After scoring 14 goals in four straight victories without allowing a response, Portugal is currently in first place in Group J and is already cruising to a place in the European Championship in Germany next year.
