Ukraine: Russian Aerial Barrage Targets Odesa for Second Straight Night

The Ukrainian Air Force has confirmed that Russian forces conducted over 60 airstrikes on Ukraine overnight, with a particular focus on the southern Odesa region, according to a statement released on Wednesday. The Russian barrage consisted of Kalibr, Kh-22, and Oniks cruise missiles, as well as Shahed-136/131 unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) manufactured in Iran, the Air Force stated.

Ukrainian air defenses successfully intercepted and destroyed 14 cruise missiles and 23 drones during the attack, providing a strong defense against the Russian onslaught.

In the context of the ongoing conflict, this marks the second consecutive night of Russian airstrikes on Odesa. Russian forces targeted the port city on Tuesday, claiming it was in retaliation for Kyiv’s alleged attack on the Crimean bridge, which connects the annexed peninsula to Russia.

The continued airstrikes on the southern region of Odesa raise concerns about the escalation of hostilities and underline the importance of international attention and efforts to address the situation. The conflict between Ukraine and Russia remains dynamic, with evolving dynamics impacting the stability and security of the region.
