Nigerian and Napoli striker, Victor Osimhen could be one of the highest-paid footballers in the world if he joins Saudi Pro League club, Al Hilal this summer.
Earlier today, Naija News reported that the Saudi Pro League club made an offer to Napoli for the services of Victor Osimhen worth over €130 million.
However, Napoli who are making efforts to extend Osimhen’s current contract which is due to expire on June 30, 2025, rejected Al Ahli’s mouthwatering offer.
The Saudi club turned to Osimhen when they could not convince Kylian Mbappe to join them even after Paris Saint Germain had accepted their €300 million bid.
While the owner of Napoli, Aurelio De Laurentiis has insisted that Victor Osimhen is not for sale, the Italian businessman has stressed that the club is “willing to consider an offer we could not refuse.”
The kind of offer the businessman might not be able to refuse could be in the region of €200 million for Victor Osimhen, an amount no club seems to be willing to pay, even Al Hilal.
However, if the Saudi giants can convince Victor Osimhen who is just 24-year-old to make the switch, the Nigerian striker could push Napoli to lower their asking price.
A report by Sky Sports claimed that Al Hilal have made an offer to Osimhen which could see the Nigeria international earn around £1 million per week.
If this is anything to go by, and Osimhen accepts the offer, the Nigeria international would be earning as much as Lionel Messi per week.
Recall that Messi joined Inter Miami after his contract with PSG expired this summer. According to Goal, Inter Miami are set to pay Messi between $125 million and $150 million (£100m and £120m) across his two-and-a-half-year contract with the club. His annual salary is said to be between $50 million and $60 million (£40m and £46m), which means his salary per week is around £1 million per week.
Hence, if Victor Osimhen joins Al Hilal this summer (which seems impossible), the Nigerian and the Argentine football icon will be on the same pay grade.
