In a significant announcement, the Sultan of Sokoto, Sa’ad Abubakar, has declared Wednesday, April 10, as Eid-el-Fitri day. This proclamation was made official through a press release signed by Professor Sambo Junaidu, Chairman of the Advisory Committee on Religious Affairs to the Sultanate Council.

The press release confirmed that the council has duly acknowledged the report and officially designated Wednesday as the start of Shawwal 1445AH, as outlined in a press release issued in Sokoto on Monday evening.

Expressing his heartfelt felicitations, the Sultan extends warm wishes and prayers to the Nigerian Muslim Ummah, invoking Allah’s guidance and blessings upon them. Additionally, he urges the Muslim community to persevere in their prayers for the peace, progress, and development of the nation.

Furthermore, the Sultan conveys his best wishes for a joyous Eid-el-Fitri celebration to all Muslims.

This announcement comes in the wake of Saudi Arabia's declaration of April 10 as Eid-el-Fitr, following the non-sighting of the crescent moon on Monday evening. The alignment of these declarations underscores the global significance of Eid celebrations and the unity of the Muslim community in observing this auspicious occasion.
